The best part of fashion week is to see runway appearances by brands that we know we can get our hands on; there’s nothing more exciting than seeing your favourite pieces transition from runway to the racks. That is one reason we always look out for Khaadi Khaas shows. Not only does Shamoon Sultan create collections that are culturally correct while being internationally apt, but he showcases and then transports a diffusion of the looks to his countless stores. Khaadi is a brand that gets us all excited, be it for their lawn, their ready to wear tunics, their home department or their luxurious Khaas pieces.

Day three at fashion week was high on fashion powers houses and there currently isn’t a brand bigger than Khaadi; KK’s contemporary spin on traditional craft easily stole the show. Speaking to Shamoon Sultan a day before the big show, all he told us was, “You have to watch the show; all I can tell you is that you’re going to love it!” And he sure was right. Not only did they showcase some beautiful traditional embroideries, their play on the season’s latest trends – a bold tribal colour palette – combined with everything beautiful Khaadi stands for resulted in a brilliant show. The ethnic and bohemian vibe is a rising trend, and rightly so as it highlights our local crafts and traditional work beautifully. Here’s a look at our favourite ethnic, yet trendy pieces.

The dark flowing, wide leg pants combined with the loose embroidered top and its glitzy fringe is something that can definitely be worn. The colours look perfect together, the embroidery stands out beautifully and the fringe adds the perfect oomph and movement.

Monochrome zigzags, a pleated silhouette and flowing embroidered sleeves: a very mod and sleek piece that’s wearable, trendy and chic.

One of the more modern pieces, the dramatic sleeves and sleek belt made this outfit one of our favourites! The overall minimal embellishment and print makes this something we want to get our hands on.

With its long silhouette, this may be one of the more traditional pieces from the collection, but the embellishment and embroidery on this was simply gorgeous. We hope some variation of this makes it on to the stores (if we can’t get the exact thing); it’s going to be the perfect piece for statement wedding wear.

Another simpler piece from the collection, this bohemian inspired tunic will surely fly off the racks. The flared style is top of the trends and can be perfectly paired with jeans for a day out.
