#KarachiRain: Celebs react to flooding in the city after record-breaking rain

Karachi plunged into darkness on last Thursday with electricity and cellular network failures as downpour flooded the city. The torrential rainfall broke all previous records and damaged property as well as took many lives. The city till date is in shambles while electricity has not been restored in many areas. The citizens also commemorated 9th and 10th of Muharram over the weekend in poor conditions.

Witnessing all this devastation and more, many celebrities took to social media and blatantly criticized the authorities responsible for the city and its infrastructure. They also sympathized and prayed for those who were injured or lost their homes.

The financial cost to repair the damage to our city from this rain will be in the billions. Not to mention the suffering, sickness and disparity of the residents of Karachi. This is a catastrophe! Is it just me or is everyone just not ok with this?

Since June, we'd been complaining to DHA authorities about choked sewer lines & an inadequate drainage system in our street at Sehar (Phase 7).
Today, my ground portion is flooded. Can't even begin to assess damage.
Rains will continue – as per Met Office – till 11 pm.
