One of the few designers who doesn’t shy away from letting his creative juices flow in more than just the happy-go-lucky tropes we usually see, Fahad Hussayn ingeniously tied up the bridal trousseau and the many faces who work behind the scenes with the dichotomy of strikes, chaos, war threats, volatile economy and everyday struggle, in which in spite of all troubles, the bridal industry works day and night.

 

 

The video is an ode to the blood, sweat and tears that goes behind making beautiful things and to being a part of people’s good memories forever. Truly, this production featuring the beautiful Sana Javed, and the mellifluous vocals of Ali Sethi will always be our favourite.

 

 

GUDDI WANG – The Junjj Mix

 

Fahad Hussayn has time and again proven his connection to the soil with his intricate exploration of the bridal culture of Pakistan, and this version of Guddi Wang is the perfect example of that. Paying homage to the Junjj ­– and the concept of taking a baraat or a procession in a vehicle where everyone sings along through the journey, the fashion film/music video reminds us of the era gone by where the vibrancies of the ensembles interweaved with the smells of the mehendi and the joys of the night.

 

 

Truly there’s no one who has been able to capture that nostalgia as beautifully as Fahad has with his version of the classic song in Zeb Bangash’s melodious voice.

 

Gallan Kardi­ – Rangrasiya X Fahad Hussayn

 

Part of a trio of videos, where the tales of heritage and the secrets of an unsung love take centerstage vis a vis a beautiful folk song, Gallan Kardi is the perfect mélange by Fahad Hussayn of celebration and opulence in bridal festivities!

 

 

The idea of heritage collectibles brings forth a brilliant recreation where a kaleidoscope of ethnicities and faces come together for a musical exploration of nostalgic literature complemented by visuals of luxuriously intricate embroideries and delicate traditional ethos. Just what else could prove the brilliance of Fahad’s creative mind than this!

 

“Sao Banjara” – The Grand Bazaar of Curiosity

 

 A story that beautifully encompasses the traditional methods of storytelling and the lands once roamed by gypsies and travelers, Sao Banjara is the epic tale created by Fahad Hussayn that will make you be in awe of the couturier’s vision that beautifully weaves fashion and art into one. Narrating a story of the landscapes of Nasarpur, where a fantasy legend of traveling gypsies touring the lands of Jugnubad can be found in joyous festivities after news of the betrothal of crown princess breaks, this short film is narrated by Wahab Shah.

 

 

We also find Mikaal Zulfiqar playing the ringmaster and Urwa Hocane playing the crown jewel of the curiosity caravan as both put forward a dramatic composition which becomes a source of an impressionistic play! Taking inspiration from ancient Iranian, Afghani, Persian and Rajasthani storytelling as well as design, this has to be one of Fahad’s best works yet.

 

Mera Jora – Presenting Fahad Hussayn Couture

 

One of the most popular videos to be put out by Fahad Hussayn in the recent times, Mera Jora is a cinematic experience par excellence. No couturier in Pakistan has woven a tale like this into their collections, and that is a testament to the visionary skillsets that Fahad holds. Playing to the idea of how a tribe of Banjaras pay an ode to heritage by putting forward their translation of jovial celebrations through a bejeweled tailored creation that has taken years’ worth of effort, the production shines bright with Iqra Aziz as the shining centerpiece of it all.

 

 

There’s a real feeling of joy and celebration taking over the video, and for those who understand the minute details of Subcontinental heritage and craft, shown visually in the best of ways, then this song is something you’d never forget.

 

Babulaa ­ – Fahad Hussayn Lawn Tradition
