With Eid ul Azha fast approaching, Pakistani audiences will be spoilt for choice as four movies are going to hit the big screen. Giving break to romantic dramas, Hareem Farooq and Ali Rehman Khan starrer Heer Maan Ja is a nice addition to the Eid platter with a fusion of comedy and action along with an atypical love story.
Heer Maan Ja features Ali Rehman Khan (Kabeer), a successful young man who gets dragged in Heer’s (Hareem Farooq) personal affairs. By the looks of it, Heer elopes from her wedding by hiding in Kabeer’s car who probably is his long-lost friend and came to apologize for some reason. By doing so, Kabeer unintentionally attracts the wrong kind of attention and is later beaten up by goons.

The twist in the story is the honor killing angle when Heer’s supposedly to-be-husband Wajdan (played by Faizan Shaikh) says that “Aurat mard ki ghulam thy, hai aur hamesha rahe ghy… mein heer ko maarne ja raha hoon [A woman has always been a man’s slave and will always remain the same… I am going to kill Heer]”.
We saw two dance numbers in the trailer; one features yesteryear’s Lollywood star Zara Sheikh in a shaadi setting while the other looks like an interesting peppy number with Hareem, Ali and Faizan in it. As far as cameos are concerned, Heer Maan Ja features Aamina Sheikh in a gangster avatar and we are intrigued to know more about her character.
