Fashion Pakistan Week Winter/Festive 2017 began last night and it began with an exclusive showcase hosted by Shamaeel. The Blue Tulip blossomed in the way that couture should; it was an experience which drew the audience into her moodboard and inspirations. Shamaeel’s couture evening was also very well attended and a number of the designer’s loyalists turned up in their favourite Shamaeel outfits. Here’s a look over the evening…
Designer of the moment, Shamaeel, with Pakistan’s most significant revivalist, Bunto Kazmi. Bunto Apa rarely makes social appearances and almost never gets photographed but she made an exception this evening.
Shamaeel loyalists were in abundance. This kind of show works very well as the designer can select an exclusive and relevant list of people that needs to attend, essentially society buyers. And the loyalists are happy that they don’t have to waste time and energy with other shows.
Sharmila Faruqui and Atiqa Odho in their favourite Shamaeel outfits.
Nabila keeps changing and her current avatar is one of a free spirit. The style guru does not want to be defined by age or gender and so she’s gone totally androgynous. We love this look!
Anushe Shahid is by far the most stunning and well-dressed blogger in Pakistan. She manages her own site, Style Haven Blog, which can be followed for her personal sense of style, which is impeccable. Anushe chose to wear new designer Hussain Rehar to Shamaeel’s event and she looked like a million dollars.
Andleeb Rana, who’s running My Fashion Fix and generated, with Zurain Imam, some really fun videos at the event. You can catch them on the My Fashion Fix Instagram page; Fareshteh Aslam, CEO Talking Point, in a snazzy ‘Istanbul’ tunic, Shamaeel herself and Kiran Aman, who revealed the mood board of her upcoming collection, Chalice of Love. This is a must have collection and you’ll probably see one of us wearing pieces from the mood board at fashion week!
We’re going to save and savour this picture of Deepak Perwani, who’s actually smiling at fashion week. Deepak is usually under so much stress at fashion week that he is all frowns; it was refreshing to see this mood swing ?
And there’s me, in my Shehla Chatoor dramatic kimono tunic, which was all tassel and glamour. I feared it would be too hot to carry this off but it wasn’t. And I felt so happy in it that it made up for the mild temperature inconvenience.
