Feroze Khan has had a super 2019; he picked up a Lux Style Award for his role in hit serial Khaani, he got critically acclaimed for his performance in Mehreen Jabbar’s Dil Kya Karey and closest to his heart, he was blessed with a son, who he dotes on. Now, as the year inches towards its end, we see him gearing up for a bigger, better 2020. With rumours of films and television series rife, we caught up with Feroze to get the facts, straight from the source.
You’ve had a great year and 2020 promises to be just as exciting, professionally. I hear you’ve got three films coming out. One is Tich Button, which you’re already working on and apparently there are two more. Can you confirm?
Feroze Khan: Yes, it is looking like a busy year up ahead. I don’t know when Tich Button is scheduled to release but we’re going to Turkey on the 10th of this month for the completion of the film. The second I’ve signed is a Yasir Nawaz film. It’s a thriller and different than what all I’ve done before so I’m definitely looking forward to that. As for more details, I’ll let the producers release more information about the film. It’ll go on floors in January and will release in 2020. That’s all I can tell you about this one. There are 8 films in the pipeline and I’m obviously not going to do them all, but I may sign on one more.

The other big news doing the rounds is that Humayun Saeed’s role in Meray Paas Tum Ho was first offered to you. Why didn’t you do it?
Feroze Khan: Yes, I was offered the role of Danish. I read the script and I loved the story. We were about to close the deal but I got to know that Humayun bhai was keen on doing it himself and I happily stepped aside. I’m glad I did because he’s doing a fantastic job.
What do you say now, in retrospect of the writer, Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s misogynistic remarks?
Feroze Khan: I had heard so much about KRQ’s work that when I first met him I sat on the floor in front of him, out of respect. But he told me that I would never be able to be an actor. When I came out of that room, I vowed that I would prove him wrong and God helped me. Once I lifted that trophy, he didn’t matter anymore. That said, what he’s been saying about people, he has no right to say these things about anyone. Nothing gives him the license to shame people the way he does.
