2021 is proving to be a tough time for musicians as not many avenues are open for work; concerts are not allowed, films are not releasing, and the only viable option is collaborating with some of the best musicians locally and internationally. Farhan Saeed, who we have loved in Prem Gali, has been absent from the music scene for quite sometime. Not long ago, the singer was also approached by talented producer Bilal Saeed for a music collaboration with Aima Baig on a hit track, Na Cher Malangaan Nu.
Written, composed & produced by Bilal Saeed, the song’s beautiful video is directed by Adnan Qazi and features Farhan Saeed and Aima Baig in a never seen before avatar. The duo deliver a magnificent tune with a performance that encapsulates the essence of the song i.e. “the more you love, the more you get hurt”.

In an exclusive interview with Something Haute, Farhan Saeed revealed how the collaboration with Aima Baig and Bilal Saeed happened. He shared his over-all experience on the project and his love for live music:
You are releasing a song after a long time, why did you think of a collaboration?
It actually happened on its own, in a way, and looking back on it I’m glad it happened the way it did. Bilal Saeed pitched the song to me, I thought it was a great piece. I had never worked with Aima before and the way it all came together was like clockwork. But no, it wasn’t really planned or thought out in advance.
How is the creative process different when working with another artist?
Working with another artist means you need to count on the qualities of collaborative action, and concerted effort. For this song, three creative minds were working at the same time. Bilal Saeed’s composition, and two voices that came together to form a fusion. This isn’t something I’ve done regularly but I’m excited about it.
How was the experience of working with Aima Baig and Bilal Saeed?
Aima is an amazing singer. Bilal Saeed is a brilliant composer and music producer. As a singer and as an audience of these two, personally I had an absolutely enthralling time working on this. The experience was very good, I hope people will like the song too.
What can you tell us about the song and the inspiration behind it?
Something I learned during the making of this song was, the best thing about collaborative projects is how different inspirations come together. Like I said, in particular, initially, there was no individual plan here, the lyrics and composition came from Bilal, of course, and once Aima’s and my voice came together, everything else followed that.
This is a grand collab with even Bilal Saeed involved in it; do you feel such partnerships produce better music?
I wouldn’t go as far as being able to say objectively better, we can’t really scale creativity in that way. But no doubt, it produces fresh and unique new work. That in itself is great for any kind of art, and music. Obviously when three music minds come together and work on one song, they all bring something of their own taste to the table. Bilal & I have been doing a bit different kind of music but this collaboration is bringing out the best of us. Good or bad, we’ll let the audiences decide.
Do you plan to do more collabs? If yes, who would you want to work with next?
I haven’t planned anything but if a good opportunity comes along, like this one did, I’m always game! Recently, for Tich Button, I have sung with another female artist which came out really well. I’ve also worked with Shreya Goshal in the past for my song Tu Thori Dier. I’m all for the idea of collaborations, singing another composer’s song, basically just whatever touches my heart, and I don’t give it too much of a second thought. So, at this point, I can’t really name who I would like to work with but if it’s a piece of music that speaks to me and makes me feel like its something the audiences want, I’m in.
You must be missing live music. Is there a particular performance or venue you miss? When do you think fans will get to hear this song live on stage?
Honestly, I can’t wait to get back on the stage. Live music is truly the only time when a musician fully lives. It is why we do what we do. And I am missing live performances very much. I would love to see all performers do it for their fans. Covid hasn’t really spared any field of work, but I’m really hoping things will get better by the end of this year. I am already working on some tours. I just hope things normalize and I get a chance to perform all over the world for my fans.
We are eagerly waiting for the film and now this song is also out. What is next for Farhan Saeed?
I try my best to balance music & acting. I just finished shooting a web series with Bushra Ansari & Hania Aamir. I’m happy that I’ve worked on quite a lot of songs in these Covid times and I will keep releasing them one by one. People will get the best of both worlds from me, that’s what I have always committed to my fans. My film is ready, we are just waiting for the cinemas to open properly again so that the public could really enjoy and connect with it. You will also hear a song by me in the movie. I’m just trying to keep both acting and singing hand in hand and entertain my fans.
