The much-anticipated Coke Studio Explorer, Season 11 has begun and as the name suggests, it’s all about exploring music around Pakistan. As exciting and experimental as that sounds, Ali Hamza and Zohaib Kazi have managed to release two songs just a day apart which have certainly exceeded our expectations.
The first song, Pareek meaning let’s go takes you through the scenic highs of the Kalash Valley with the mighty voices of Ariana and Amrina from the gigantic snow-covered mountains of the North. Hamza and Kazi make sure their chants leave a lasting impact on the mind and uplift the senses. The music notes reveal a bit about their culture and the tune has the same wanderlust spirit much like the meaning of the song.
The second song, Faqeera has more rustic feel to it as it explores the dusty winds of interior Sindh and the folkloric tunes of the devotees of the saints. The soulful vocals of Shamu Bai and Vishnu tell an untold story of their lives sung in their traditional voices.
