Before we begin, let us first say it out loud that Mehwish Hayat used to be called ‘Mehwilicious’ on Instagram, or some other variation of that name. While she has changed it now and uses her own, original name instead, there are other celebrities who like using fun (and weird) names on Instagram. Something Haute rounds them up! Here they are in no particular order.
1. Urwa Hocane – Urwatistic
What first comes to mind when you hear the word ‘Urwatistic’? Urwa’s unusual Instagram handle, ending with a ’tistic,’ appears to be a combination of the name ‘Urwa’ and ‘fantastic’? That’s just our assumption though; it could just as easily be a graft of narcissistic, artistic, feministic, etc. If she were a man we’d thing chauvinistic, mysogynistic etc. Now Urwa Hocane already enjoys an unusual way of spelling her surname; we still have not figured that out either. But judging by the way she loves to be unique, we’d say it just as well means individualistic!
2. Mawra Hocane – Mawrellous
Birds of a feather…of course this is Urwa’s sister, Mawra Hocane and she also likes to spell her name like her sister (no we’re not talking about their love for the spelling of their last name). Mawra’s Insta handle also sounds like a combination of the words ‘Mawra’ and ‘marvellous’  except that it just as well could be something else. Plus, we don’t love this one as much because it doesn’t roll off the tongue as easily. It’s a bit of tongue twister.
3. Hania Amir – Haniaheheofficial
Hania Amir’s Insta handle is a true reflection of her real self. If you’ve ever met Hania in her real life, you’d know that she laughs a lot and has a very easygoing personality. Thus her name Hania-hehe-official makes a lot of sense. Lolz.
4. Osman Khalid Butt – aclockworkobi
We didn’t expect anything less from the witty and intellectual Osman Khalid Butt but to be honest, we’re a little scared. Osman’s Insta handle is a reference to the iconic film, A Clockwork Orange, which was, simply put, about a crazy and creepy guy. In Anthony Burgess’s (the writer of the original novel which was adapted into a film by Stanley Kubrick) original the title refers to a person who “has the appearance of an organism lovely with colour and juice but is in fact only a clockwork toy to be wound up by God or the Devil.” Need we say more?
5. Adeel Husain – vizorkaneda
So we did a quick (and half-hearted) Google check on what ‘vizorkaneda’ could possibly mean but the only thing that turned up on Google was Adeel Husain’s Instagram account. Suggestions or an explanation from our readers would be helpful.
6. Mooroo – mooroosicity
Toxicity, authenticity, publicity – the very hilarious Taimoor Salahuddin, popularly known as Mooroo, has turned his unique nickname into something even more…unique. To be honest, we like the name ‘Mooroo’ better. Mooroosisms would also have worked.
7. Kubra Khan – thekubism
We first noticed her in Na Maloom Afraad, then saw that she will be starring in Parvaz Hai Junoon opposite the likes of Hamza Ali Abbasi, Hania Amir and Ahad Raza Mir, then noticed that her Insta name is ‘thekubism’. It’s weird and we like it!
