With Pakistani films seeing a positive response in the cinema throughout the year, it seems the industry has finally made a strong footing with the audiences. However, while the numbers narrate a positive story, the onslaught and popularity of Bollywood films isn’t quite over yet.
According to independent box office website and sources, the numbers recently made by The Donkey King, Parwaaz Hai Junoon and Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 - PKR 14.5 Crore, PKR 32 Crore and PKR 39 Crore respectively – may soon see a pause as Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan is being given a preference for screen allocations across Pakistan.
Currently, the allocation of the only three Pakistani films still being screened in the country ranges from 10 to 50 percent of the screens available.

On the other hand, once Thugs of Hindostan releases, the Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan starrer is forecasted to be given close to 60 to 75 percent of all screens in the first week, which then will affect the business of Pakistani films and lower their collections.
Moreover, given that Bollywood films have always managed to create opening week records in Pakistan, as in the case of Sanju, it will be a big opportunity for Thugs Of Hindostan as there is no major release for weeks.
