Pakistan Super League (PSL) no doubt takes its anthem very seriously. The first few anthems have been sung by bigwigs such as Ali Zafar and Fawad Khan, while the latter anthems saw a plethora of stars, such as Ali Azmat, Asim Azhar, Haroon and Arif Lohar for ‘Tayyar Hain’ and Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig and Young Stunners for ‘Groove Mera‘ last year. Whether universally loved or not, PSL anthems always create a buzz.
Looks like this year is going to be no different as Atif Aslam and Aima Baig gear up for this year’s anthem, produced and composed by Abdullah Siddiqui, making it the first time Atif Aslam has been part of the cricketing platform.
“Getting to produce this anthem is a dream for any musician, and I’m very honored and thankful to the PCB for the opportunity this year. Both Atif Aslam and Aima Baig are undeniably the best and working with them has been a privilege. I’m very excited for fans to hear what we have come up with,” said Abdullah Siddiqui in a press release by PSL.
While speaking about what to expect from the song, Siddiqui revealed: “We have tried to produce a song that captures the spirit of the game in a meaningful way, while still being very fun and catchy.”
It’s truly humbling to see PSL selecting a diverse range of musicians every year, with the veterans such as Naseebo Lal and Atif Aslam while giving space to young, upcoming names such as Young Stunners and Abdullah Siddiqui.
