To all the single ladies, singer Asim Azhar is no more single!
Asim announced his engagement to longtime family friend, Merub Ali on Sunday evening. The couple posted identical pictures of the ceremony as well as same message on their Instagram handles.

Asim and Merub requested for prayers in their posts.
“Shukar Alhamdulillah. With the grace of Allah Almighty and our parent’s duas, we announce our Imam Zamin – engagement. May Allah SWT and Ahlebait (as) keep us protected and this happy forever, Aameen. Keep us in your prayers,” read the posts.
Asim has worked in television dramas before but the two have recently worked in Sinf-e-Aahan. Asim plays Sajal Aly’s character Rabia’s ex-fiancé who is also Mahjabeen’s cousin (played by Kubra Khan). Merub, a model who has made his acting debut, plays Yumna Zaidi’s sister in the drama.
Unfortunately, trolls didn’t leave them in peace even in their happy moment and rumours started circulating the Asim had once called Merub his “sister”. The singer took to Twitter and tweeted a clarification statement.
To all reposting a screenshot of a “news channel” that said I had labelled Merub as my sister bec of a fake chat a fan had made, I clarified it a year ago. 🙏🏽 reminder since this is a beautiful moment of my life that I want to cherish. However, Merub has put all such speculations to rest in an earlier interview with Something Haute.
“We’re not cousins, we are not step-siblings. I read somewhere that I have a second mother!!! No, I only have a mother and father. We’re great family friends; we know each other since childhood, my brother is his best friend, our mothers are best friends, that’s just about it,” she had said.
