Disneyland Paris has announced that Minnie Mouse is temporarily swapping her iconic red-and-white polka dot dress with a navy blue pantsuit with black polka dots and her signature bow created by British fashion designer Stella McCartney.

Minnie Mouse’s modern new look is for Disneyland Paris’ 30th-anniversary celebration.

Her full makeover will be unveiled in March to commemorate two different dates: International Women’s Day and the 30th anniversary of Disneyland Paris.

According to PEOPLE magazine, British fashion designer Stella McCartney said she’s “delighted to be working with the one, the only, the iconic Minnie Mouse.”

She added that Minnie has always had a special place in her heart.

“What I love about Minnie is the fact that she embodies happiness, self-expression, authenticity and that she inspires people of all ages around the world,” the designer said in a statement. “Plus, she has such great style!”

The designer said Minnie’s new look is meant to make her a “symbol for progress for the new generation.”

“I wanted Minnie to wear her very first pantsuit at Disneyland Paris, so I have designed one of my iconic costumes — a blue tuxedo — using responsibly sourced fabrics,” she explained, however, not everyone seems to be impressed.

Some internet users have also pointed out that this is not the first time Minnie has worn pants. In 2019, Disney Cruise Line debuted Captain Minnie in a red and white maritime uniform with pants.
