Sarmad Khoosat has finally unveiled the trailer of his second masterpiece — Zindagi Tamasha — after critically acclaimed Manto and as expected the first preview gave us goosebumps painting a dark and grim picture that holds up a mirror to our society.
According to the film’s official synopsis, “It is an intimate portrait of a family as well as a scorching political commentary on little gods on this earth who police our private passions.”

The trailer introduces us to Rahat (played by Arif Hassan), a naat khawan who enjoys celebrity status amongst his community in the old city of Lahore. He is a devout Muslim and hence his peers deem it unfathomable when Rahat falters. And then one day, a video of him goes viral and even his own daughter, Sadaf (played by Eman Suleman) feels ashamed of him. It’s not clear from the trailer what’s in that video but what we do know is that matters start to slip from Rahat’s hands and he ends up making a publicly apology.
The question is, will people forgive and forget? Will they accept opinions differing from their own?
Written by Nirmal Bano, Zindagi Tamasha raises questions on our self-proclaimed standards of morality and righteousness. The 2-minute 24-second trailer has many hard-hitting dialogues that will force a viewer to think twice about our double standards and how as a society we are judgmental and prejudiced. The film also features Samiya Mumtaz and Ali Kureshi in pivotal roles.
