Pakistani cinema is on its way to a successful period it seems with some big banner films, star-studded casts and promising stories all set to hit the big screen. Gauging from the teaser of upcoming film Heer Maan Ja, it appears that period isn’t that far off.
Directed by Azfar Jafri, whose previous release Sher Dil raked big numbers at the box office, the film stars Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman Khan and Abid Ali in lead roles. Produced by Imran Raza Kazmi and Lakhani Films, the film’s teaser immediately grasped our attention when we noticed various cameos. From Aamina Sheikh to Ali Kazmi, Ahmed Ali Akbar, Saleem Mairaj, Mikaal Zulfikar, Zara Sheikh and more, the filmmakers successfully kept it all under the wraps until today. It also stars Faizan Shaikh in a seemingly negative role.
The story seems to have successfully created a mix of comedy, action and romance, making it the perfect masala film the audience has longed for. We also see a glimpse of Zara Sheikh’s shaadi number, news of which created buzz earlier this year. The dialogues are punchy, the visuals are a treat to watch and all of these components are likely to make it a sure-shot hit at the box office this Eid ul Azha.
At an event recently, Hareem revealed that her upcoming film is about honour killings so it will be interesting to see how and where the sensitive topic fits into the narrative. Heer Maan Ja teaser gives away enough without giving away too much, increasing the excitement levels of the viewers.
