After the Supreme Court of Pakistan on October 31st took a historical decision in a high profile case against Asia Bibi and acquitted her, a number of Pakistani celebs took to Twitter to opine.

Actress Mahira Khan leads the way wishing that the law of humanity prevails forever in the country. The actress faced serious backlash on her tweet, but we appreciate that she stood her ground and didn’t delete her post.

 

Cake actress, Sanam Saeed expressed that we are finally taking baby steps towards the greater good.

Actor Ali Rehman Khan was delighted that justice was delayed but not denied in this case.

 

The JPNA 2 star Mawra Hocane, who is a lawyer as well, raised a question about the rights of minorities in our country. She called the decision not just kind, but also a right one.

Mawra’s brother-in-law and singer Farhan Saeed also requested Prime Minister Imran Khan to held hatemongers accountable for their actions in this time of crises.

Mansha Pasha also gave her two cents about the judgment.

Veteran actress Samina Peerzada was of the opinion that it is an act of divine justice.

Hareem Farooq commented how the ruling ensured justice after a long wait.

Although almost all of these tweets were bombarded with adverse reactions and threats, but kudos to the members of media industry who did not bat an eye and maintained their stance in the face of opposition.

Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five, was on death row since 2010. She was accused of committing blasphemy in 2009. A trial court had found her guilty of the crime and awarded her the death penalty. Later the Lahore High Court upheld the sentence. As a last resort, her lawyers approached the Supreme Court (SC), seeking repeal of her sentence.
