As an initiative to promote friendly ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry had announced that Pakistani films and dramas will be released in Saudi Arabia. Earlier today, the minister confirmed that Parwaaz Hai Junoon will be the first Pakistani film to release in Saudi Arabia.
The move comes following an agreement between the two counties, as per which both countries will screen each other’s local content in order to promote cultural, social and political ties.

The agreement happened after Saudi Arabia opened its first ever cinema for public earlier this year in Riyadh. The Saudi authorities intend to build around 350 cinemas with over 2,500 screens by 2030, hoping to generate around $1 billion as annual revenue.
The decision to exhibit content from both countries will foster growth and promote the content of both countries which is a positive step.
