A month-long box office collection-spree may have given an edge to Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, Load Wedding, and Parwaaz Hai Junoon, but it seems things may finally be slowing down due to an onset of new Bollywood films.
Releasing throughout Pakistani multiplexes, the first red flag for Pakistani films this month comes in the form of Shahid Kapoor’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which has seen a major number of screen allocations with its release on Friday and has been termed a strong social-drama which ‘may become an overnight success’ by critics.
In comparison to BGMC’s screen allocation, Nabeel Qureshi’s Load Wedding has been given one show or none at all at various cinemas. In such a disparity, it remains clear that the Mehwish Hayat starrer has not been able to make its mark and may end up not earning more than PKR 15 Crore in totality.

On the other hand, Bollywood film Stree has also given a major challenge to JPNA 2 and PHJ, both who otherwise have collected gargantuan amounts at the box office with an approximate PKR 45 Crore and PKR 35 Crore, respectively. However, despite big numbers, both films do seem to be facing possible danger from the onslaught of Bollywood.
In the coming week, however, there are probably more problems that these Pakistani films might have to face, as Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan starring Sui Dhaaga inches closer to its release.
How will the latest Bollywood additions change the dynamics? We’ll have to wait till next week…
