While there are new dramas airing every now and then, nothing beats the pleasure of binge-watching your favourite dramas at a stretch. No advertisements, no pauses, no waiting a whole week for a brand new episode. And best of all, you can fast forward the scenes and episodes that drag.
To make your life easier, we decided to list down 5 dramas that we think you must stream and rewatch!
Humsafar
If we must give a reason, then here you go! Watch it for the love of Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan. A simple story, beautifully directed by Sarmad Khoosat and penned by Farhat Ishtiaq. Humsafar was the project that truly launched Fawad and Mahira as actors. It was more than just a drama revolving around saas-bahu conspiracy theories; it was a story about love and relationships. It was about pure emotions, understanding, love and forgiveness.
Shehr-e-Zaat
We admit we love Sarmad Khoosat, but it’s only because he knows what he does. Written by Umera Ahmed, Shehr-e-Zaat is a tale of spiritual awakening. With Mahira Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Mohib Mirza and Samina Peerzada in the lead among other prominent actors, the drama highlighted the materialistic society and its lack of understanding for each other. It draws a comparison and contrast between the love for God and love for humans.
Dastaan
Set during the violent time of partition and independence, Dastaan is the story of two individuals torn apart due to a situation that was far from their control. It is a story about love, loss and pain that many who have lived through the Indo-Pak partition can relate to. Directed by Haissam Hussain and penned by Samira Fazal, this was the best work from the entire cast that included Fawad Khan, Sanam Baloch, Ahsan Khan and Saba Qamar among others.
Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan
Directed by Babar Javed and featuring excellent performances by Samiya Mumtaz and Faysal Qureshi, Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan was a tragic tale of one woman who is a victim of character assassination. The drama highlights how the concept of modesty and purity is used to destroy lives and it is based on Umera Ahmed’s novel of the same name.
Pyaray Afzal
Written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and directed by Nadeem Baig, Pyaray Afzal is the story of a carefree man Afzal Subhanallah, played by Hamza Ali Abbasi. The drama broke all records and the end shook the entire nation. Considering its popularity, the last episode of the romantic drama was screened in various cinemas all over the country. While Hamza was the USP, it was packed by great performances from Firdous Jamal, Saba Hamid, Aiza Khan and Sohai Ali Abro nonetheless.
