Having been around for a while and flung at the some of the most successful names in the industry, body shaming is as real as can be. Even stars like Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonam Kapoor and many more became subjects of harsh rebuke over certain established standards of “the perfect bodyâ€.
Since her pregnancy, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was fed incessant reprimand and criticism from all quarters. The new mother kept quiet about her pregnancy weight gain for long enough, till it finally comes out now! The star, in her upcoming project Fanney Khan, addresses the body shaming issue that is “rampant across the worldâ€.
The movie also features Anil Kapoor and revolves around the relationship between a father and his 16 year old daughter. The producer, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, shared with an Indian publication that the film explores very touching accounts of a young girl who is battling with body shaming and low self-esteem. He shares that body shaming is an issue that “most of the girls not just in India, but around the world go through.â€
Despite being a global menace the issue never got the limelight it truly needs. It is appreciable and interesting to see a star like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan step out in a man-eat-man-world and bust body shamers with style.
