Celebrity weddings in Pakistan are few and come far between (although Instagram, that celebrates every average Jo’s wedding with equal aplomb, would have you believe otherwise) so when two people as popular as Urwa Hocane and Farhan Saeed decide to get married the world celebrates with them! It helps that the two love attention and don’t shy away from a good photo-op as we saw in the Eiffel Tower proposal and therefore, this week promises to provide enough fodder to keep the media on its toes!
The first official dholki began at Farhan’s house in Lahore yesterday. We saw pictures of the bride and she looked radiant in Elan. That picture of the two sharing a moment was lovely; we guess traditional mayun rules don’t apply!

For those of you wondering, Urwa and Mawra are originally from Islamabad though their family has been living in Sydney for quite some time now. They moved to Karachi because work took them there and now they also have a home in Lahore, where the shaadi is unraveling. It’s where the Hocane family is having a festive reunion.

Apparently everyone who’s anyone has been invited to the grand reception on December 18 and while wardrobe details are carefully being kept under wraps, we can make an educated guess – judging by the names on the card – that HSY, Elan, Faraz Manan, Muse, Shireen Rehman and Munib Nawaz are all contributing to it while Sherezad Rahimtoola has designed her jewellery. We know that Elan’s Khadijah Shah has designed the outfit that Urwa will wear to her nikkah and we also know that both Urwa and Mawra have two outfits each from Faraz Manan (not the bridal) so those grand outfits will make an appearance too. Fiza Gilani and QYT are both mentioned on the card (that Fiza, of Papermint Events has also designed) so we’re assuming they are both managing one event each.
And oh, wait. You need to know that the nikkah will take place at the Badshahi Mosque, full filmy style!
Dholkis have started, the first was held at Farhan’s house two days ago.
And if you’re wondering where the couple be honeymooning, rumor has it that Farhan is performing two or three days after the wedding and Urwa is shooting for Punjab Nahin Jaungi and Rangreza so it’s presumed that the honeymoon will be belated and not immediate.
So here’s the thing. Should we anoint Farhan and Urwa as the Kanye and Kim of Pakistan?
