The mega star of Pakistan’s entertainment industry – Humayun Saeed – is all geared up to return to television with Nadeem Baig’s next play Meray Paas Tum Ho. The actor-director duo has given us super hit movies like the Jawani Phir Nahi Ani franchise and Punjab Nahi Jaungi as well as blockbuster drama Dil Lagi so we won’t be surprised if Meray Paas Tum Ho also goes on to take television by storm.

Written by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, the romantic play has Ayeza Khan in the lead opposite Humayun. We caught up with the lead stars and the director to fish answers for all the burning questions about the play and here’s what we found out:

Ayeza in a new avatar

Ayeza was approached for the role two years ago. Her character in the drama – Mehwish – is totally opposite to her personality. “During my scenes, Mehwish and Ayeza are constantly in clash. It’s a difficult character for me but Nadeem Baig helped me out to ace the right expressions,” Ayeza revealed adding, “I am in awe of Humayun Saeed’s acting. I forget the scene and my lines when I look into his eyes. He is so good in expressing feelings.”

Clash of the names

Humayun’s reel-life name here is clashing with Ayeza’s real-life husband Danish Taimoor which baffled Ayeza for the first few times. “Mehwish and Danish share a cute love story in the play where the husband accepts every demand of his wife,” Ayeza said. Now this calls for an interesting watch!

Styling her characters

The actress is really particular about the styling and wardrobe of her characters in each play and does all of that herself. She customizes her dresses according to the shades and story of the character.

Nadeem Baig wants to give the audience a break from issue-based stories

After giving highest grossing films in Pakistan, Nadeem Baig keeps coming back to television because he thinks TV is big in Pakistan. “All the film actors in Pakistan have become successful through television. The USP of Meray Pass Tum Ho is its romantic-dramatic story which is a break from the issue-based stories that are currently covered in plays these days,” he said.

Humayun’s return to TV

With blockbusters to his credit, Humayun is coming back to TV because he doesn’t believe in any division between TV and films. “I love Khalil saab’s script and I wanted to experiment with my look. I have put on weight for the first six episodes where my looks don’t matter and then there is my character’s gradual transformation,” he said.

TV dramas & Humayun’s clean-shaven look

Humayun previously had a clean-shaven look for his drama serial Dil Lagi and now again he will be seen in the same avatar. The actor said it isn’t a deliberate effort to differentiate between his film and TV roles. “Nadeem thought that I look hot is a beard so here he needed me to have an aura of a simple grounded man; thus a clean-shaven look,” Humayun said.
