Ishq Zahe Naseeb’s third episode has given us one track that is rarely seen in Pakistani dramas these days. It is the beautiful bond between two sisters, Bushra and Gohar, played by Jinaan Hussain and Sonya Hussyn respectively. We have so far seen Gohar as a carefree spirit who doesn’t take life seriously and believes in horoscopes. She is a sensitive person who realizes her sister’s struggles and her family’s financial problems. However, Gohar is so head over heels in love with Kashif (Sami Khan) that she cannot see the looming separation that is bound to happen in her love story.
Bushra, on the other hand, is the mature one. She has figured out that there is no escape from their paternal aunts’ wrath, who is blackmailing her father and brother that they can settle their debts by marrying Gohar with Jehangir (Khalid Malik). Bushra is a level-headed girl who has made peace with the fact that she is going to suffer in similar conditions after her wedding. Her to-be husband never takes a stand for her and hence she doesn’t want her sister to suffer as well. She plans a escape route for Gohar and convinces Kashif as well, however, things don’t work in the couple’s favour.

Both Gohar and Kashif grapple with the idea of a secret nikah and in the end give up on their love. Sami Khan has given a subtle yet impressive performance. The director has used images and flashbacks of his sisters and mother to convince the viewers that Kashif has to prioritize the well-being of his family. Similarly, Gohar returns home and sits quietly during her rasm so as to not break her parents hopes and her sister’s marriage. Sonya Hussyn’s measured expressions and agitation are worth watching. The way she cries her heart out in one scene and delivers heavy dialogues with a sigh of relief in the other is remarkable. It seems as if Gohar has buried the hatchet and accepted what fate has in store for her.
The episode depicted a selfless bond between the two sisters, which was indeed refreshing to see. Meanwhile, we didn’t catch a single glimpse of Zahid Ahmed. Next episode will introduce Zarnish Khan’s character in the drama and we will finally see Zahid in his alter-ego’s avatar. We wonder what track will the drama take from here onward. Nonetheless, we want to see more of Zahid Ahmed on screen.
