The 80s are making a big come back in fashion (did we ever get over the 80s, actually?) and the era is influencing hair and beauty in a big way. Big hair, braided hair, coloured hair and accessorized hair…it is all coming back and Saeeda Mandviwalla – Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Creative Artistic Director at Toni & Guy, Karachi – put up a chic and edgy show this week to showcase these trends.
“We’ve put together the summer trends for both men and women. It is a mix of cuts, colours, fashion editorials – from catwalk to clients,” Mandviwalla told Something Haute at the event.
‘Runway to Real Life Hair’ was the theme of the show that was presented using the label.m professional hair care range to showcase summer hair trends, 2019 inspired by the 80s.
ACCESSORIZE YOUR HAIR
Accessories are going to be key trend this summer, when the mercury rises and you need to keep your tresses tied up and away from your face, it’s a good idea to make the most of it.
Go for statement clips, which include haphazardly skewed bobby pins or bold clips.
Opt for silk scarves, which you can style on your head like a hairband or just over your ponytail. Be experimental!
And of course, spring and summer points at floral everything and it’s time to make the most of flowers around you. Wear a fresh flower tiara or simply pin one of your favorites on the side.
THE ‘CUTTING EDGE’ OF HAIR
Wispy Bangs
Do not worry about your hair length too much. Ask for bangs that start in the middle of the eyebrows and fall below the cheekbones on both sides of the face.
Sleekly Straight
Who does not love poker straight hair? Just make sure your straighteners are ready to face the challenge the entire season.
Micro Braids
Witty Voluminous
What is a hair trend without adding some big volume anyway? Add long extensions or backcomb as much as you please. Your hair, your choice!
Curl Ball
This is a unisex trend. Osman Khalid Butt was seen rocking a shaggy haircut at the show. “I am loving this round and bouncy cut sported by Rohail aka Ro (his character in the movie),” Osman told Something Haute.
COLOUR IT CRAZY
Multi-coloured Tips
The idea is to make a statement with your real hair colour! Perhaps keep the base in a brunette shade and dye those tips blue or pink or green. This blend is stronger than your morning coffee.
Peek-a-Pink
If you are hesitant, tell yourself ‘this season is all about going for it’! It is basically pink hair but only soft and smoky. It will make you look super cool this summer. Model-turned-actress Aamna Ilyas told us that she has never experimented with her hair. Girl, what are you waiting for?
