Riz Ahmed requests his followers to watch ‘The Long Goodbye’

Winner in HollyShorts’ Oscar-qualifying category The Long Goodbye, directed by Aneil Karia and starring Riz Ahmed won the Grand Prix as the festival’s best film.

Addressing the victory, Riz took to social media and requested his followers to watch the short and show support.

“The Long Goodbye Short has won the Oscar qualifying Grand Prix at HollyShorts Festival!!! Proud of how it’s connecting, scary how it’s feeling more and more relevant. Pls support us – watch & share the film,” he posted.

Created as a wake-up call against rising intolerance, The Long Goodbye takes the viewers on a journey both intimate and devastating. The short emotionally communicates the cultural experience minorities face in an institutionally biased society. 

The 12-minute short film explores what would happen in Britain if racists took over in the future. It ends with a haunting poem called: ‘Where Are You From’.

The album of The Long Goodbye has 15 tracks including Toba Tek Singh, The Break Up (Shikwa), Mogambo and Deal With It. It features interludes by actors Mahershala Ali (Don’t Do Anything Stupid), Mindy Kaling (Take Half) and Yara Shahidi (Look Inside).
