What would fashion week be without the artisanal jewels that bring the outfits to life? Be it bridals or pret, the jewellery will always remain a focal point of the show, as will the garments. This PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week, ace jewellery designer Reama Malik collaborated with the Pel Craft/Design segment, and brought her Gold Lure to life.
What Reama does expertly, is make versatile pieces that work magnificently with traditional and contemporary wear, something her show further proved. Chunky gold caged hand-cuffs and layered necklaces were paired with western fused outfits, a combination one would think twice before making. However, they worked beautifully together to make a contemporary statement.
The garments in the Pel segment were majorly boho-chic and it was interesting to see how well the jewellery complemented each. Chunky gold neckpieces with gorgeous blue stones gave a nomadic vibe to the overall display, while dull gold neckpieces were even used as headbands to play on the boho theme. The gold bangles especially had a great textured look, which when paired with the simpler pieces made for a stack of funky arm candy!
The day after her show, there was a private viewing of Reama’s collection, for the fashion savy who were lusting for a closer look at the pieces. We found the detailng in each piece to be impeccable, as nothing less is expected from the designer. A certain antique-inspired coined piece was especially reminiscent to memories of heritage pieces that one might find in their mother’s collection; highlighting how Reama is a master at combining the western and eastern aesthetic.
After all, isn’t contemporary gold jewellery a major need of the hour? These days everyone is on the lookout for pieces one can wear paired with a traditional lehnga to a wedding, or with a chic dress to a soiree; Reama’s Gold Lure is a must-have for the modern day fashionista.
