I have jump-skipped to the last event in April because PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week, scheduled to take place in the last week in Lahore, promises to be the best fashion week in Pakistan. Ever. Here’s why:
The lineup (at least part of the line up that I have drawn up by speaking to designers randomly) includes Sana Safinaz, Shehla Chatoor, Sania Maskatiya, Maheen Karim (who’ll be showing twice, once with Bonanza and the second time with her own western luxury line), Misha Lakhani, Rizwan Beyg, Faiza Samee, Nida Azwer, Sanam Chaudhri (for Bonanza), FnkAsia, Wardha Saleem, Adnan Pardesy and Feeha Jamshed from Karachi.
From Lahore I have confirmations for Sublime by Sara Shahid, Akif Mehmood, Mohsin Ali, Ali Xeeshan, Fahad Hussayn, Zara Shahjahan and I’m sure the usual creme de la creme that includes HSY, Karma, Republic, Muse and Kamiar Rokni will also be showing. Throw in Maria B, Nickie Nina, Asifa Nabeel and you have four very interesting days.
I’d have more confirmations on Lahore if I were talking with the designers more regularly but unfortunately they’re a bit tougher to get through to. And since I don’t bump into them everywhere I go (as is the case with designers living in Karachi), I’m at a loss. I will, of course, put up a confirmed list as soon as my bird in Lahore chirps it to me. Till then, just hang on to the idea of how strong this fashion week is going to be!
Ps. I’m delighted to be officially covering for Dawn!
Okay, so there’s more excitement happening around fashion week. If rumours are to be believed then two designers from Karachi – who’re planning to open their flagship stores in Lahore – will be doing so at the end of the month too. In time for the show and the demand that’s expected to follow! That’s what I call smart planning 🙂
