Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, the IT couple of Bollywood have tied the knot. The much-awaited wedding took place on April 14. The couple’s wedding festivities began on April 13 with mehndi and sangeet functions, followed by the big day. The wedding was attended by family and close friends.
Alia created a social media frenzy when she also posted pictures from the wedding ceremony on Instagram. It wasn’t a big fat Punjabi wedding but an intimate gathering held at Vastu, the Mumbai apartment block Ranbir and Alia live in. Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan joined Neetu Kapoor, Riddhima Sahni and other Kapoors as baraatis.
The ladkiwale included Alia’s parents Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan and sisters Pooja and Shaheen Bhatt. Navya Naveli and parents Shweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda attended – Nikhil and Ranbir are cousins. Akash and Shloka Ambani were on the list of friends as were Karan Johar, Ayan Mukerji and Akansha Ranjan.
Alia and Ranbir opted to dress up in ivory with hints of gold. Ranbir looked charming as he complemented Alia in an intricately embroidered silk ivory sherwani from Sabyasachi with a layered pearl neckpiece, a matching white organza saafa with a stone-studded accessory on it, and a shawl with zari marori embroidery.
Alia’s wedding dress was a custom-made Sabyasachi sari with ‘the fourteenth of April’ written on her pallu along with butterflies and floral motifs with golden embroidery. Her regal jewellery became quite a discussion after the pictures were revealed.
From custom-made kalires featuring cloud, birds and stars to the famous infinity/Ranbir’s favourite number 8 on her wedding ensemble, there were many intricate and heart-warming details that stood out in Alia’s wedding.
While most brides prefer to keep their hair tied into a bun, Alia let her hair loose. The soft waves complemented her bridal look. The matha patti looked similar to bejewelled headband oozing royalty vibes. The Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery featured uncut diamonds and hand strung pearls.
