After much deliberation and many rumours, censor boards have green-light the horror-comedy Lafangey for release and the cast has announced that the film will screen in cinemas across Pakistan on Eid ul Azha.
Earlier, rumours were circulating that the film has been banned due to its “objectionable content, vulgar and double meaning language.” However, it was clarified later that the one of the censor boards has a few reservations on some dialogues. Later, the film was sent for a Full Board review.
Tehmina Khaled from Take II PR, has now confirmed that the film has been passed by the censor boards.
“This is to inform you all that film Lafangey has received a clearance after full board review at Islamabad Censor Board. We will be releasing Lafangey on Eid Insha Allah! Thank you for all the concern and support,” the statement said.
This is perhaps the first time that a film has received clearance after objections were raised on its content. The recent past is an example that Pakistani films, including Zindagi Tamasha, Javed Iqbal, Durj and I’ll Meet You There that were once banned, never got to see light of the day.
Mani also felt ecstatic and posted a picture of all three Pakistani film posters displayed over a theater.

Read: Why Lafangey will not release on Eid ul Azha?
Lafangey focuses on four men who have big dreams and goals but are clueless how to achieve them. Somehow, these four will end up in a supposedly “haunted house”. The film stars Sami Khan, Mani, Mubeen Gabol, Saleem Mairaj and Nazish Jahangir in the lead roles. Abdull Khaaliq Khan is the writer and director of the film, and Tariq Habib Rind is the producer.
The film will hit the screens on Eid ul Azha alongside two other Pakistani films London Nahi Jaunga and Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad.
