After a two-year pandemic gap, the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards returned at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi this past weekend. As always, the event featured a Green Carpet – graced by Bollywood’s biggest and brightest stars – as well as an IIFA Rocks show on June 3rd and the main event on June 4th. IIFA Rocks was hosted by director Farah Khan and Stree actor Aparshakti Khurana. The main show, meanwhile, was hosted by Salman Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, as well as TV presenter Manish Paul.
Also, part of the festivities were Nabila and her team of over 70 makeup artists and hair stylists. The beauty expert was once again the official hair and makeup partner of the show, making this her second IIFA awards. Folks back home got a candid peek into the IIFA awards on Nabila’s Instagram.
We got to see Nabila on the green carpet with Bollywood megastars like Jacqueline Fernandez and Shahid Kapoor. Backstage, Nabila could be seen giving director Farah Khan a crash course in how to make the best use of her ZERO Makeup palette. Afterwards, Farah attested to Nabila and her team’s talent, stating that she had never looked better.

Actor Arjun Rampal also took to his Instagram to compliment Nabila’s team. This also happened to be Arjun’s only post on IIFA which, if anything, speaks volumes about the impression that the team made on him!

Veteran actor Bobby Deol looked dapper at the ceremonies in a sharply cut sherwani style suit and barely there makeup with a smart hair-do styled by Nabila’s team.
Actress Lara Dutta Bhupathi was also seen on Instagram thanking Nabila’s team for doing her hair and makeup. Lara looked like a million dollars in not one, but two looks created by the team.
Actress Mugdha Godse also trusted Nabila’s team to create a look that complimented her stunning sari ensemble. With smokey eyes and nude lips, Godse’s makeup allowed her outfit to take centre stage while highlighting her beautiful features.
Two of the night’s winners also accepted their prizes with looks that had been designed by Nabila and her team.
Sharvari Wagh, the Bunti Aur Babli 2 star and winner of the debut female actor award, wore soft wavy hair and a gentle look. Her smoky eyes with a touch of red complimented her umber hair.
Saie Tamhankar, who bagged the best performance in a supporting role award, was seen in not one, but two looks designed by Nabila. Saie sported a long braid intertwined with gold thread, matched with bronze eyes. She was later seen in a funky updo with smokey eyes.
Amongst the many celebrities styled by Nabila and her team were comedian Kusha Kapila, and actresses Dhvani Bhanushali and Mamata Mohandas.
With so many looks to create, one would think that the team would run into at least some problems. But with over three decades of experience with shows of all magnitude, Nabila is not so easily fazed. As she told Something Haute, “I’ve been doing this for so long that I can do it with my eyes closed but an event this big does teach a thing or two about coordination and planning.”
