2022 is the year of wonderful opportunities for Pakistani artists as every few weeks we get to hear a remarkable news about new milestones achieved by our artists. The most recent one to boast is that Pakistani-Canadian actor Ahad Raza Mir has been cast in Netflix original series Resident Evil.
Though Netflix has not yet revealed the details about the character that Mir will play in the series, but the actor’s agent, Hamid Hussain, has confirmed the news.
Resident Evil is a live action, scripted series that will tell a new story building on Capcom’s hit video game franchise. Lance Reddick is set to star as Albert Wesker and the cast also includes Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nuñez.
According to Variety, Constantin Film, which previously produced the six-feature film franchise based on the games, will serve as the studio behind the series. Andrew Dabb is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner, with Mary Leah Sutton also writing and executive producing the series.

Ahad is not the first Pakistani to appear in an international series on Netflix. Earlier, Humayoun Saeed was also confirmed to play Dr. Hasnat Khan in the upcoming season of the popular Netflix series The Crown.
Ahad is currently filming a Ramazan drama serial for Pakistan’s Hum TV titled Hum Tum. He is a household name, well-known in the Pakistan’s TV and film fraternity. The actor’s notable performances include drama serials Yaqeen Ka Safar, Aangan, Ehd-e-Wafa and Yeh Dil Mera. He has also been a part of one feature film Parwaaz Hai Junoon. Ahad starred alongside his wife Sajal Aly, in a Zee5 web series Dhoop Ki Deewar.

Hamid also shared that Ahad is co-producing a Greece-set thriller film alongside him, which will feature a mainstream Pakistani female star in the lead role. Further details are under wraps at the moment. Ahad debuted as a producer with Kalasha, which is currently filming.
In Canada, Ahad has built a name for himself as a theater actor. After playing Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet (2014) and Lennox in Macbeth (2015), he played the title role in Hamlet: A Ghost Story (2019), all for The Shakespeare Company. His interpretation of Hamlet won him Canada’s Betty Mitchell Award for outstanding performance by an actor.
