2018 may have ended two days ago, but the effects of its films still seem to be spilling into the new year at the Pakistani box office in the shape of Zero and Simmba.
According to independent box office websites and sources, both Bollywood films have done tremendous business at multiplexes across Pakistan and have managed to garner a handsome amount in their ongoing run. While the Shah Rukh Khan starrer is in its second week of running with a collection of PKR 13 Crore, Ranveer Singh’s Simmba has also managed to rake in PKR 7 Crore in just four days.
If the latter manages to keep its stronghold at the cinemas for another week or so, it is anticipated to cross Ranveer’s previous film, Padmaavat’s box office collection in Pakistan – which by the end of its run became the highest-grossing film of the actor in the country.

On the other hand, other releases of the last month – namely, Hollywood’s Bumblebee and Aquaman are also seeing strong growth at the box office with about 70– 80 occupancy during their respective shows nationwide.
In contrast, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s 3 Bahadur – which has an average of 1 to 2 shows a day in various cinemas across Pakistan – has not managed to bring in the audience amidst tough competition. However, it seems the film will still be kept running during the week so that the animated feature can garner up an adequate collection.
With all happening at the box office during the first week of 2019, it is expected that Bollywood will retain its dominance until given a tough competition by a local film – which at the moment, there’s none.
