Rozina Munib made a strong fashion week debut in 2016, where she had the ever-resilient Mukhtaran Mai take the runway as her showstopper. For FPW S/S’18, the designer channeled some serious glitz and glam with her collection ‘Glamorama.’
Dramatic tops and jackets, ball gowns, and tasseled wonders took the runway, making the grand statement the designer had aimed for. A pink gradient ruffled coat that trailed behind as the model sauntered down the runway was one of the many dramatic pieces by Rozina.
‘Glamorama’ showed the handicraft of decorating fabric with 3D elements, with the embroidery incorporating a lot of eye-catching 3D elements; flowers, metal strips, glass beads, crystals, Swarovski’s, pearls, quills, and sequins were used in variation to bedazzle the ensembles.
“My main thought behind creating the whole collection was about glitz and glamour and how different silhouettes are formed using different techniques. Every tiny detail in each outfit was a focus for me,” Rozina spoke about the thought process behind the collection.
The silhouettes too were experimental, each standing apart from the other. Statement ruffles, trailing sleeves, draped pants and skirts are the prevalent trends of the season, which the designer played on with a unique twist. However, we were intrigued by what sort of clientele the designer is targeting with this luxury wear.
“I major in exporting garments, and I have a large clientele who are interested in these glamourous gowns but cannot afford luxury brands. We have a lot of young girls, who are looking for outfits for bridal showers and pre-wedding parties, that come to us too,” Rozina told us.
The models too were styled to perfection, with slick ponytails and dewy skin, to keep the glamour factor contained in the outfits. The show also featured actresses Amna Malik and Neelam Muneer, in glitzy ball gowns, as showstoppers. While Neelam wore a deep blue voluminous number, Amna’s ensemble made an interesting contrast with its pretty princess-like vibe.
