The festive season is in full swing and like every year, Ramzan and Eid exhibitions are happening left, right and centre; the heat is definitely not a deterrent! While skeptics can argue that splurging on clothes defies the message of restraint and simplicity, we are (apologetically) all for retail therapy and the buzz that Eid shopping creates for everyone. It’s such a happy, happy time. So hoping to tap into all that happiness, we set out on an exhibition hop this Saturday. This is our itinerary…
Yasmin Zaman
The brand’s classic aesthetic and pocket-friendly pieces are what draw customers to her. We had been eyeing her elegant formal wear for quite some time now and finally got the chance to see her luxury pret pieces up close. The designer had kept the embellishments minimal and Eid appropriate, instead of going overboard as many brands have done this year. Yasmin’s use of soft colours tempted us to pick up a tunic or two to tackle the heat with. Also, her clothes will work just as well beyond Ramzan, into the upcoming wedding season as well; a net dupatta or block-printed pants would oomph up any minimal shaadi look.
The designer was smart to also keep a rack dedicated to day-to-day wear, which featured minimal prints and trendy details like statement sleeves or appliquéd flowers. These tunics were hot sellers!
Wardha Saleem
It was great to see how well Wardha Saleem’s latest Mon Amour- Babushka, My Love collection translated from the runway to the rack. The pieces were wearable while keeping their quirky aesthetic intact. It was funky and eye-catching and despite being quite arty, was a hot seller amongst Eid shoppers. Keeping the slightly more conservative shopper in mind, the designer had also designed an Eid collection, Belle Rose, which was all about pretty, festive clothing.
This collection featured pretty whites and pinks, as well as wraps and capes for the fashion-savvy! We also got the pleasure to see the limited edition hand painted bags, designed by Nubain Ali, from the previous collection, which are up for orders.
Maheen Karim
Maheen Karim brought an extremely stylish Eid collection to Ensemble; it ranged from trendy to classic pieces that would work for Ramzan, Eid and just as easily beyond. Along with light denim tunics, which were embellished/embroidered with minimal elements, there were also her signature luxe wraps and embroidered pieces which were selling out fast!
Kiran Fine Jewellry
Though the genius jewellery designer did not have an exhibition this Saturday, we decided to drop by because we were in the neighbourhood! Her latest line of gold-plated silver jewellery, ‘Kino by KFJ’ has been trending on our Instagram feed and we got to see it up close and absolutely loved it. The brand has a very innovative design philosophy, which stands apart from the typical gold brands we see, and the same goes for her gold-plated line. Kiran told us that she will soon be launching another collection, which will feature silver pieces plated in gun-metal.
Shamsha Hashwani
The Shamsha Hashwani flagship store has been a regular stop on every fashion expedition we set out on. The boutique is freshly stocked with summery tunics these days and a brand new Eid specific range is also in stock. We’ve always been a fan of Hashwani’s finesse, and absolutely loved the delicate organza details and lace inserts in her new designs. There was a lot of timeless chikankari and tunics in solid colours that will carry you through summer and beyond.
Shamsha’s Eid exhibition, by the way is day after tomorrow (June 14), and you may want to check it out.
