Nomi Ansari has pulled out of showing at the upcoming PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week. Before you indulge in the inevitable and start taking sides on whose fault it is, I have one thing to say: Don’t shoot the messenger, please.
From what I have understood, Nomi Ansari was given a confirmation to open the fourth and final day of fashion week, December 21st to be exact. This confirmation was made right in the beginning of event planning, after which he agreed and started preparing for the show. Due to family weddings and personal commitments, he says the 21st was the only day he could show, which is precisely why he agreed to it.
On December 4 he was sent a request to shift his show date to another day. He had to decline because as he had intimated the PFDC council earlier, he had personal commitments that he could not get out of. So after designing a collection, conceiving and creating a theme ‘Rani Bagh’ that was to unroll with the entire shebang of a rustic wedding and after spending hundreds of thousands on props and accessories, he had to pull out due to the unsuitability of the new date being offered.
Maheen Kardar Ali of Karma will be opening the last day of fashion week now.
“I was disappointed,” he says. “I had put a lot of work in this collection and show.”
That’s all I know. Why his date was shifted to the point where he had to pull out, only the council can tell. I just know that LPBW is one less an exciting collection!
