Fans of Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan are eagerly waiting to see the couple together, especially on the big screen, for so many years. The hype and hope of seeing them in The Legend of Maula Jatt (TLMJ) this Eid ul Fitr is on all time high, however, if news reports circulating in the media circuit are to be believed, the release of Bilal Lashari’s TLMJ has been postponed.

Yes, the most anticipated film of the year may not hit the theaters in June. The producer of the film, Ammara Hikmat did not comment about the uncertain situation, but entertainment portal Pakistani Cinema has reported that Ammara has confirmed to them that the film’s released has been postponed.

The website has pointed out two reasons for the delay: firstly an Eid ul Fitr release would clash with Salman Khan starrer Bharat and would divide overseas audience. Now, we are well aware that the screening of Bollywood films is banned in Pakistan and team TLMJ knew it for a while that this release would dampen the box office potential of their film in international market. So we wonder what changed now.

The second reason cited for the setback is the controversies surrounding TMLJ for a long time. The filmmakers are in a legal battle with Bahoo Films and a hearing is scheduled for April 25.

However, entertainment website Very Filmi has a different story to tell. Their news report has negated all the above speculations and reasoned that the film’s scope in the international market is at stake. “The international distributors have advised the producers not to release the film before certain territories theatrically and go for a worldwide same-day release. It will not only benefit the two parties but Pakistani cinema in general,” the report said.

Pakistani Cinema also claimed that an Eid ul Azha release is in the pipeline, which will clash with two other major releases, Heer Maan Ja and Parey Hut Love. But Very Filmi presented that TLMJ will either release with Lion King (19th July) or on Eid ul Azha.

The wiser decision would be to schedule it for a non-holiday release alongside any Hollywood film, so that it pulls maximum footfalls and achieve its true potential.
