No one can dispute the position of mega textile brand Gul Ahmed as a pioneer in Pakistan’s textile tradition. It is indeed the original lawn and while numerous brands have followed and added to the pool, Gul Ahmed remains a trailblazer. On that account the brand launches its winter collection before anyone else and allows women to tune into their winter wardrobes, well in advance.
Gul Ahmed’s Fall/Winter Collection 2016 takes inspiration from Pakistan itself; it has been shot in Pakistan’s picturesque northern areas capturing locales like Jheel Saif ul Muluk to Shogran Valley and the designs featured in the collection are reminiscent of the exotic scenery. The splendour of nature is celebrated in this collection, hence the name ‘Pakistan ki Pehchan’. The hues and designs of each piece are inspired by the surrounding landscape, making it a vibrant and attractive collection.
Gul Ahmed has chosen to maintain their signature style which are floral motifs amalgamated with geometric prints, using a bright palette of tangerine, hot pink, blue and fuchsia, as well as working with soft pastels such as lilac and mint green. Keeping in line with the current trends for women, the collection boasts a variety of different styles: cigarette pants, palazzos and bell bottom pants to go with short tunics. The collection also works with many different fabrics, ranging from woven textured cottons, digital print designs, blended chiffons to digital satin and silks.
Perhaps the best part of this collection is the fact that it can be customized as well. For those of us who like to create our own designs, the collection has unstitched fabric waiting to be designed to suit our individual needs. Whether you’re a busy woman who wants to buy ready-made ensembles or someone who likes to take her time creating her own perfect jora, Gul Ahmed’s Fall/Winter Collection 2016 caters to everyone.
