Adding another maven to their list, Google’s celebrated ‘doodles’ honoured the late writer Fatima Surayya Bajia on what would have been her 88th birthday.

Eldest sibling of renowned writer Anwar Maqsood, Zehra Nigah, and late celebrity-chef Zubaida Tariq, the writer was fondly called Bajia by her fans.  The Urdu novelist, playwright and drama writer was known for highlighting the issues of women, and her plays like Shama, Afshan, Aroosa, Ana, and Tasveer were part of her exemplary repertoire.

She was awarded various awards at home such as the Pride of Performance, and abroad including Japan’s highest civil award in recognition of her works. She also remained Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh province in Pakistan, as well as a member of the managing committee of Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi.
