While Fawad Khan fans have been scrambling to get tickets for Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, in which the star has a six-minute side splitting cameo, others have been wondering why he didn’t make an appearance at the film’s premieres. Here’s why: Fawad was in Saudi Arabia, performing his first Haj and true to his personal character, wanted to stay completely off the media radar. That’s why there was no ‘selfie’ moment during the spiritual journey, which he experienced with his wife Sadaf Fawad Khan.

Fawad did, however, represent Pakistan at the closing ceremony of Haj, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Media.

“I’m honoured to be representing 200 million Pakistanis in front of such a diverse audience and a nation that we love and highly respect,” he said in his speech at the closing ceremony. “This was my first experience of Haj and I am happy to share that I take back great memories of it and I am extremely impressed with the professionalism of the entire security and government’s management for the remarkable services rendered to all pilgrims.”

Fawad was also invited to the annual Haj lunch hosted by the King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and the Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman. That’s quite an honour.

Fawad Khan will next appear in and as the eponymous character of Maula Jutt, in the Bilal Lashari reboot of the classic film. The film also stars Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Malick. A date of release has not yet been announced but we do hope the first look or trailer is unveiled soon.
