Dubai: Fawad Khan is in the United Arab Emirates for the relaunch of Filmfare Magazine (Middle East) and while India is blowing hot and cold on Pakistani artistes these days, it’s good to know that some form of cross-border diplomacy is underway in Dubai. This is just in that Fawad Khan, the first Pakistani actor to win a Filmfare Award for Best Debut in India for his first film, Khoobsurat, has been acknowledged yet again by Filmfare ME.

The event was held in Bollywood Parks Dubai last night and Fawad Khan was honoured with the title of Best Cinematic Icon Pakistan/India.

Our correspondent Sadiq Saleem was at the event and he first caught up with Fawad on the red carpet.

In Dubai to accept the award, Fawad Khan, who is considered heart throb of millions both sides of the Indo-Pak border as well as the Middle East said, “Filmfare has always been very kind. This is so sweet of them.” This when Fawad was reminded that he’s been on three Filmfare India covers; one with Sonam Kapoor, one with Alia Bhatt and one solo.

One could hear fans screaming “I love you Fawad” when his montage played.

Fawad Khan is joined in Dubai by Mehwish Hayat, whose film Punjab Nahi Jaungi has proven to be the highest grosser in the history of Pakistani cinema as well as Javed Sheikh. From India, Filmfare flew in Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone, Karan Johar, Jackie Shroff and several others. We’ll be bringing you the full story later.
