All of you who have been following my blog or the Fashion Media 101 Facebook page will be up to date with everything we do under the FM101 banner. Basically, we will complete three years of the course this November; when I started we didn’t even know we’d have a second class or not.Â
I have to say that this last session (February 2013) that just ended last Thursday was one of the absolutely best because I had 8 great, enthused and well-informed students who were very eager to learn and contribute. Maliha S, Maliha T, Hena, Erum, Warda, Maria, Sidra and Hira you guys absolutely rocked and I wish you all well in your future endeavours. I’d also like to mention Maria A, Ammar N and Sana M who returned to catch up on the two classes they had missed in their own session. I loved your enthusiasm to learn. I really hope what you learnt in six weeks helps you map your future in fashion!
Even more exciting, however, is the advanced Fashion Week class we have organized post FPW, which is this week. The extended session on April 15 is an in-depth analysis of fashion week, holding this one as an example. We will be going through each and every show to discuss the collections and the elements that did or did not work. Since I have only accepted current/past members in this class, I know that they are already well-informed on the mechanisms of a fashion week showing. We will also be analyzing all press coverage (especially the dailies and social media) to understand which shows got more coverage and why. Synergy between Fashion and Media is the focal point of Fashion Media 101 and I am looking forward to this advanced class.
I have to say that the council, Fashion Pakistan, and their PR agency Lotus has been very kind and cooperative in supplying us with invites for the students. This will be monumental in their learning as many of them have never attended a fashion week before and therefore have no idea of what to expect. Here’s to learning!
