With 2019 heading towards a peaceful end, Google has its ‘Year in Search 2019‘ list out and unlike YouTube’s rewind, it is exciting. The coveted list includes Google’s top 10 searches in different categories — searches, people, movies and TV — and some of the highlights are indeed names that piqued our interest the most during 2019 in Pakistan.
The most Googled person of the year turned out to be none other than Naimal Khawar Khan (or Abbasi). Her wedding with Hamza Ali Abbasi in August was literally the talk of the town for weeks. The former actress was in news for everything; from her glam looks to donning her mom’s wedding attire or doing her makeup herself.
Late actor Waheed Murad held the second place in the list. Earlier, the tech giant also paid homage to Pakistan’s chocolate hero on his 81st birthday this year.
Cricket holds a special place in our hearts and this was yet again proved with three cricketers — Babar Azam and Asif Ali — holding third and fourth spot respectively while Mohammad Amir is number seventh on the list.
The rest of the list includes Adnan Sami, Sara Ali Khan, Alizeh Shah, Abhinandan Varthaman and Madiha Naqvi. Adnan was in the news largely for his controversial tweets post Pulwama incident, where as Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan became viral on social media after his plane was shot down by a PAF pilot.
Saif Ali Khan and Arrita Singh’s daughter, Sara made her debut in Bollywood this year with Kedarnath and then did Simmba. She was instantly everyone’s favourite and similar is the case with Alizeh Shah’s film debut in Superstar.
News anchor Madiha Naqvi rounds up this year’s top searches. She tied the knot with MQM’s leader Faisal Sabzwari this year.
Though searches for superheroes dominated the lineup, drama serial Ehd-e-Wafa and Suno Chanda featured on third and fourth spot in the most Googled movies and TV in Pakistan.
