Pepsi Battle of the Bands is back with a bang and after a thrilling first episode, the show marched on with the auditions in episode two.

Featuring an opening performance by former winner, Kashmir, who performed their original song Bhago, the show kick started the exciting journey of shortlisting bands for the main rounds.

E-Sharp made a return to the platform after an unsuccessful stint in the second season, this time with an improved sound and a groovy original. They managed to steal the show with the lighthearted Anthem of Shabana which had the judges tapping along, and became the first band ever to be directly sent to the main rounds.

The next band to showcase their unique sound was Uraan, who performed their soft, pop rock, Khamoshi, reminiscent of Vital Signs as pointed out by Meesha Shafi. The diverse band drew a majorly positive response, however the lead vocalist seemed to be a little under the weather; nothing that can’t be fixed though. The band made it to the judge’s shortlist.

Next up was Marjaan, whose lead vocalist had previously experienced recognition on the show with Khamaaj. Performing Jhalleya, the band were shortlisted, however couldn’t wow the judges as much as their counterparts. They still made it to the next level so they definitely hit it right!

Taking inspiration from Guns N’ Roses, Black Hour made a thumping statement with their song Daulat, sung in their native language. Wow-ing the judges with their talent, they made it to the next level with ease and oomph!

After rounding up the auditions, the most awaited moment of the show finally arrived where the judges had to choose the 8 best bands for the main rounds. Tweaking the format a bit to cater to the immense talent of the competing bands, the show will have 12 competing bands in the main rounds instead of the usual 8.

The bands that managed to win the judges hearts are:

1. E-sharp
2. Seismic tremors
3. Marjaan
4. Neon
5. Star Zone
6. Auj
7. Uraan
8. Aarish
9. Skehlaaj
10. Black hour
11. Jhoot
12. Mousiqa
