There has been an upsurge of social media banter surrounding Indo-Pak tensions in the past two weeks. While there are some sane voices like Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sonam Kapoor who have been bashed for their anti-war views, other Bollywood celebrities were either engaged in war mongering or lauding India’s airstrike. Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has finally retorted that the best thing ‘Bollywood walas can do is stop poking nose in issues beyond their understanding’.
On February 28, Preity Zinta had tweeted regarding the release of Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman in a rather snarky manner. Fawad Chaudhry responded to her tweet, stating that “Majority of them [Bollywood celebrities] haven’t even finished their school, they lack ken of very basic issues.â€
Best thing #Bollywood walas can do is stop poking nose in issues beyond their understanding, majority of them haven’t even finished their School, they lack ken of very basic issues. Wars are too serious a business to be discussed by jokers who became celebrities by stroke of luck https://t.co/ReRKLdLIC7

Pakistan on Friday handed over Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman to India at the Wagah Border as a gesture of peace in effort to de-escalate tensions between the two neighbouring countries.
Wing Commander Abhinandan was captured when his fighter aircraft – MiG-21 – was shot down by Pakistan Air Force after it ventured into the Pakistani airspace on February 27.
Preity Zinta was amongst the few who expressed a sensible view against the war hysteria propagated by many Indians. She had earlier tweeted that India and Pakistan should fight only against terrorism, poverty and illiteracy. In addition to her, Indian singer Sonu Nigam has also lashed out at the Indian media for insensitive and irresponsible media coverage.
Addressing a group of journalists, Sonu said, “A wise nation always behaves well and with class. All of the debates taking place on TV channels are set in an immature discourse. I believe that we, as Indians, really really need to grow up!”
Being an army kid I can say confidently that the only war India & Pakistan should fight is against terrorism, poverty and illiteracy . Full stop. #SayNoToWar #SayNoToTerrorism #Jaihind🇮🇳 #SaluteOurForces 🙏
