One of the few labels that have a high ranking on and off the runway, Sana Safinaz’s commercial success is second to none. From luxury pret to lawn and bridals, the duo has excelled at pretty much everything.
Their designs are utterly feminine and often rely on floral prints to do the trick, along with interesting colour schemes that gel together perfectly. Speaking of recent instances, when it comes to fashion week showcases, Sana Safinaz’s luxury pret and contemporary collections are the ones that remain memorable and tend to stand out more than their bridal couture. And that’s exactly what we’re looking forward to at the FPW Winter/Festive 17 this week.
This year for Winter Festive, the duo brings Roses & Rue, which will once again play on floral elements. The collection is going to be a powerful amalgamation of contemporary bridal couture with a Western aesthetic. The fabrics used range from organza, silk, velvet and voile in dramatic silhouettes, as well as streamlined cuts with flirty peek-a-boo cutout details and décolleté necklines.
Of course fully flared layered skirts are also a constant when it comes to wedding and luxury wear. The ensembles also use three dimensional floral appliqués, fringes, tassels and elaborate woven details to add an exquisite touch.
What has us excited though, is the brand’s debut menswear capsule collection, as part of Roses & Rue, with a range of sherwanis, waist coats and jackets. Keeping things minimal and refined, the adornments include lion head buttons, collar pins and smart pocket squares. Will the design powerhouse be ticking off another successful category on the fashion spectrum? The grand finale on day three of FPW will tell!
