The second teaser for Ramazan drama Chaudhry & Sons released this weekend, giving us a reveal of the two lead characters – Bilal Chaudhry, played by Imran Ashraf, and Ayeza Khan as Pari. While Ayeza has established herself as a Ramazan favourite (we loved her in Chupke Chupke last year), this is the first time Imran will lead as hero in a full blown rom-com on television. And as evident in the teaser, he’s nailing the character.

The teaser establishes a very interesting contrast between both characters. Bilal, better known as Billu, appears to be the son of a pehlwan but who himself is an urbanised shokha, for lack of a better word. Ayeza, as we see in her reveal, is from Hyderabad, and thus is the polar opposite of the Punjabi munda. Sparks are bound to fly when they cross paths, as we know they will.

Chaudhry & Sons is a lighthearted rom-com with a somewhat somber message at the core. It will address how family elders are rigid about caste and creed, refusing to marry their children outside their biraadari. Sohail Ahmed plays Billu’s daada and Irsa Ghazal will play Pari’s daadi, so we can expect an interesting dynamic there as well. The story is about family bonding, values and ultimately, reunions.

Now established as a Ramazan regular, Saima Akram Chaudhry (Suno Chanda, Ishq Jalebi, Chupke Chupke) has written two serials this year: Chaudhry & Sons has been directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain and produced by 7th Sky Entertainment for GEO TV, whereas Hum Tum starring Ahad Raza Mir and Ramsha Khan will run on HUM TV.
