There are a few designer lawn brands that women go gaga over each year and Farah Talib Aziz is definitely one of them. This year the coveted designer turned back to collaborating with Lakhany Silk Mills for lawn and together they hosted a garden party in Karachi to give enthusiasts a sneak peek into the new collection that launches on March 15…that’s tomorrow!

Keeping the FTA design aesthetic in mind, the ambience of the event was perfectly in sync with the floral and pastel theme of the upcoming collection. The breezy evening, combined with the burst of colours, lace and ladylike prints, was a perfect celebration of spring! With women all decked up and showcasing intricately styled outfits from the collection, it was quite fascinating to see how the prints from the catalogues would look in real life.

This season’s collection has woven designs into jacquard and lawn, adding an additional design element to the overall jora. This has been complemented by the introduction of 3-D embroideries as well as cutwork embroidered on organza and additional french laces that add the perfect finish. The abundant ‘package’ ensures that each outfit stands out with its added trimmings and guarantees that it not only look good during the day, but also as semi-formal evening wear.

As it is everyone’s number one concern that a photographed ensemble is not always what you get once you go buy it, Raheel Lakhany from Lakhany Silk Mill assured us that “What you see IS what you get inside the packed suit,” when it comes to this collection.

Our favourite model of the moment, Sara Hirji glams up an FTA-Lakhany design.

This being LSM’s second collaboration with Farah Talib Aziz for a lawn collection, we asked Lakhany what the selection criteria is for such collaborations. “We believe in creativity…the ability and the capabilities of the designer, as well as how well we can work together in the same environment.” Raheel told us how their first collaboration was a great success, which is the main reason behind their second lawn campaign together this year.

Hosted at the new Ambrosia restaurant in Clifton (the outdoors of which is quite magnificent), the evening was a happening affair, having bloggers and journalists and it girls flown in from Lahore and Islamabad while managing to get every Pretty Young Thing in the city in, dressed to perfection in the new collection. We also spotted a pregnant and glowing Sarwat Gillani in a white tunic from FTA pret (above) and Momal Sheikh looking as glamorous as ever.
